Imagine You Are 7 Years Old Again
Imagine you are seven years old again.
What were you like? Do you remember what games you liked to play? What was your favorite tv show? Did you have a lot of friends? Did you follow your big brothers and sisters around?
I hope you are now back in your experience as a 7 year old. Now think of this story.
You are playing in a room. Your sitting there playing your favorite game, humming your favorite song and just imagining in your own little world as 7 year olds do.
And then your mother’s boyfriend walks in.
At first, you notice but begin playing again. Your mommy loves him so he must love you too. So you hand him one of your toys and ask him to play with you.
He tosses the toy aside and then proceeds to pull out his phone. You look bewildered and look up at him because you don’t understand.
And then he grabs you. Now the terror starts
He records video on his phone as he does things to you that you are too young to experience and can’t understand why this is happening to you.
You scream for your mom. “MOMMIE….MOMMIE!!!! and she doesn’t come.
He finishes what he is doing to you and all you can do is lay there, shaking uncontrollably, scared, confused, alone and your mother never comes….she NEVER Comes. Your mom never shows up. He must have done something to her too. You slip out of consciousness.
You wake up in an orphanage. Because of the shame that will come to your mother, it is easier for her to give you up to an orphanage than to stand and fight the man that has done this to you.
You don’t know anyone, You don’t know why your mommy won’t come see you.
Sadly, this story is real. There are many of these stories as you can see as you watch this clip from the news in the Caribbean. I just want to go hug her. I want to go hug her and let her know that the world can still be a wondrous place. I want her to know that she is still a child of God and she has the right to a life free of abuse and fear.
My colleague, Dr. Knights and I, will adopt an orphanage while we are there. And even if it only lasts for the time that we are there, we will let these little girls know they are loved. Please help me. Help me give them hope. Help me show them that they are not alone. Please donate
