Are you stuck? Is your business stagnant?

As I check the messages from my clients that participate in my coaching and mentoring programs, I noticed one of the best questions EVER (I say this a lot).

How do I just get out there and do it? I’ve watched and listened to so many experts and gurus tell me about my headlines for my marketing… I should be at in-person networking events… webinars are good to grow my business… or the latest, I should be on Periscope….

It may be time to turn down the noise. Better yet, Just do YOU.

If you need a more organized way of moving past stagnation, consider this:

  1. Stop being a repository of information – Building your library is not making you successful. It is the implementation of what you are learning that will make you successful. Find a good ratio of personal development time to implementation and action.. A great ratio is 1:4. For every one hour of personal development time you should have 4 hours of implementation and action. Anything less than that could symbolize you are hiding (sorry to point this out but someone had to do it.)
  2. Get Strong In YOU – What will it take for you to know you are good at what you do? Would having that infamous 10,000 hours of deliberate practice that is quoted (and often misquoted) by Malcomb Gladwell? Would having someone pat you on the back and say “good job”? I could list many ways but what I know for sure is this is personal to you. I noticed how important it is to give permission, or endorse my clients, to go out there and BE GREAT! That may sound rather pompous but really, most times, they just need to know, I have their back. If you need that, find a coach or a mentor that knows how to bring out your strengths and not concentrate on your weaknesses. Yes, it is important to identify your weakness and then seek support for it by delegation, automation or education. Long gone are the days where you give your weakness too much airtime. There is nothing successful in that.
  3.  Learn 3 To 5 Make an effort to spend time organizing what you would like to accomplish and then begin writing out the tasks necessary to get there. When my clients work with me, they must commit to 3 to 5 hours working “on” their business instead of  “in” their business. This simply means being mindful of the tasks you should complete to get where you want to go. Often times, we set out to do so many things during the day, and the main tasks we want to get accomplished never get done. When you are looking back at your day, you’ll notice you’re busy all day with tasks that did not directly get you closer to your goal. That can change drastically by having time daily to set up and review your day.
  4. Focus On Your “A” – This goes hand in hand with the 3 to 5. Multitasking is blocking your success. When you sit down to do a task, Your “A” turn everything else off – ie, notifications from social media, text messages, email – give this task your undivided attention. Put your heart and soul into doing this task until it’s completed. Act as if this is the last task you will do on this earth. Once, it’s completed, mark it off your list and move “B” up to “A”. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
