Small Business Consultant…Mom…what do you do?
One day my daughter started treating me like Tommy on Martin…If you remember the show, no one thought Tommy had a job. She said one day your at a bank, then the next day your at a client in Newark, then you are working from home but what exactly does a small business consultant do?
My job is to help my clients get from point A to point B. Most of the time small business owners don’t share with each other what is going on in their business. They need to have someone that they can trust to help them develop a plan to create something in their business. Whether it is revenue, or great employees or reducing the expenses, my clients are looking for someone to help them develop a plan that is going to get the project done.
Period.
A small business consultant with a love of technology.
Since I was in middle school, I’ve had a love for computers. I remember this computer class when I was in the 6th grade and I learned how to program. I was so into it, that I got an award and I remember my dad coming to the school to see me get an award from that class.
That stuck with me.
I love knowing the in and outs of how technology works and now with social media, I am hooked. At first, I was like everyone else and just jumped in head first into the social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn. And I will admit, I hated Twitter. How in the world was I (who has a BIG mouth) suppose to be able to say anything in 140 characters or less? And the conversation goes so fast, how am I suppose to keep up?
And Facebook, I have family that is all over the world and for the first time, I am able to communicate with them and participate in their everyday lives just like I am down the street. We laughed together on Facebook and we’ve even cried together too.
With all of this connectivity, it is wonderful that it can be used in ways to grow your business, build families and communities without taking over your life like many people think.
